Hypnosis is a very natural, relaxed, deep meditative state. If you can sit through a movie, you can easily and quickly be guided to a theta/alpha state - that state where your mind goes to when you are just resting almost ready to fall asleep, or just waking up (you know that state where you are aware of your environment but you don't want to move or get up). Well, Cara will gently, safely, comfortably get you there.
At one time it was said that only 10% of the population could be hypnotized. Hypnosis is a level where it's easy to be suggestable or your subconscious takes over. If you drive and have ever gone on autopilot and wondered how you arrived at your destination safely, you were in a self hypnotic trance. If you were watching tv or a movie, or listening to music and induced to feel a certain emotion, you were in a hypnotic trance, a natural state of suggestion.
You'll do great. Just relax and allow.
Absolutely not. While in the state of hypnosis, your conscious mind (the ego) is at rest, but you are completely aware of what is going on. Your body is resting but your mind is alert. You have control over your thoughts and emotions.
Movies and Stage Hypnosis makes hypnosis look bad. If you've ever seen a stage performance where the hypnotist pulled people out of the audience and made them believe they were a chicken or in love with the chair, you may have not noticed that they ONLY PICK VOLUNTEERS. Volunteers are already willing to be vulnerable (and the volunteer gets to have some attention and blame the fun foolishness on hypnosis). Hypnotists know that a rule of the mind is that even in hypnosis you cannot coerce anyone to do something they don't want to do or are not willing to do.
And not to be a smarta$$, but do you really have control of anything anyway? I felt out of control with the guilt, weight issue and not sleeping. My subconscious had taken over because of suggestions I gave it when I was 6 & 10. I reclaimed my power by revisiting those scenes and viewing the untruths I told myself and others told me, and changed the suggestion.
I'm not sure where this fear was created, however, hypnosis is a natural state (between Theta and Alpha state), the worst that could happen is that you would fall asleep as if you were taking a short nap and awaken refreshed. (oh no!! how awful!). It would also be like asking "If I watch a really good movie, when it's over, will I still feel hyper focused on the screen?"
No, you would change focus from being relaxed and entertained to "oh, there's a world outside the movie"... and get up and possibly contemplate what was just presented. And like a good movie - feel good, feel a paradigm shift.. and maybe even be excited about it and tell others how impactful it was. (or .... you fell asleep before the movie ended)
Your subconscious mind knows everything about you. One of the rules of the mind is that if your conscious mind is in control, your subconscious mind takes a back seat. And when your conscious mind takes a back seat you have access to your subconscious mind... you know when you forget a name or a word that you know you know, but no matter how hard you try and remember - you just can't remember. And then a few minutes or hours later when you're not even trying - the name or word pops into your consciousness. It's Because you weren't trying.
Well, when you are hypnotized, you are still consciously aware, but relaxed...hanging out... not trying. Now you can retrieve information from your amazing subconscious mind. It seriously knows everything about you. Our minds are so cool.
